The challenge of translating a text into another language is to keep the original “voice” in it without changing its meaning and message. This is the ultimate goal I strive for in every project. If you are looking for someone with an eye for detail and precision who provides high-quality translation and editing services, you have come to the right person.

Medicine

I have always been fascinated with medicine. Therefore, I specialized in medicine and medical translation during my studies, which allowed me to combine this passion with my talent for languages and, finally, make it my profession. Today, I am honored to find renowned clinics, research institutions and companies providing medical information among my clients. Not only do I provide top-quality translation and editing services, I also have the necessary background knowledge to produce consistent and accurate translations in the medical field.

I translate and edit medical texts for the general public, e.g. hospital websites or patient information, as well as highly specific documents addressing experts, e.g. scientific publications for (international) journals and specialist books or medical reports.

Medizinische Fachübersetzungen Heilbronn
A major focus of my medical translation services is on the following fields:

  • Infectiology
  • Tropical Medicine
  • Microbiology, Virology and Infection Epidemiology

In my master’s thesis, I covered the terminology of the neglected tropical disease (NTD) dengue in detail. Working as a freelance translator, I was able to significantly extend this knowledge of infectious diseases (especially tropical medicine). Today, I have a wealth of experience in this and related fields.

Another focus of my work is on the translation of documents related to clinical studies, including the following text types:

  • Informed consent form (ICF)
  • Study protocol
  • Questionnaires
  • Publications on clinical studies

Other examples of medical specialties in which I translate and/or edit on a regular basis:

  • Public Health
  • Orphan Diseases
  • Metabolic Disorders/Endocrinology/Diabetology
  • Pneumology
  • Oncology
  • Surgery
  • Psychotherapy
  • Geriatrics
  • Rehabilitation
  • Implantology

Information Technology

Information Technology

I have worked as an in-house editor and specialist translator in the IT security field for many years, so I have the necessary expertise to produce high-quality IT (security) translations.

On the one hand, I translate and edit IT texts for the general public. This includes websites, PR texts or marketing documents. As I have broad, specific knowledge in this field, I also translate and edit IT texts addressing experts, e.g. articles for specialist books and journals or policies, manuals and guidelines for IT (security) departments.

  • Security awareness

  • Mobile apps (iOS, Android)
  • IT compliance
  • Data protection/privacy aspects (e.g. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR))

(Higher) Education

(Higher) Education

Education systems vary greatly around the globe. What is more, many universities cooperate with institutions in other countries, so they are facing the challenge of providing different information and documents in different languages (e.g. websites, forms or study information). Translation in this field requires comprehensive knowledge not only of education and academic systems but also of the corresponding, extensive terminology.

FAQ

There is no general answer to this question, as the time required (and thus the price) for a translation depends on numerous aspects, including:

  • Number of technical terms and the associated research to be done
  • File format (it takes much more time to translate a file that cannot be edited (e.g. PDF), as it must first be converted)
  • Urgency/deadline
  • Purpose

Get in touch, so I can prepare a free quote for you.

This depends on the nature and extent of the text. In general, I can translate official documents (e.g. marriage certificates, school certificates, etc.) within a short time, whereas extensive texts that require much research to be done take more time.

Please send me your request incl. deadline. I will promptly get back to you with a quote.

If possible, please send me the complete text in an editable format (e.g. Microsoft Word) and tell me your deadline. This way, I can easily estimate the time and calculate the price for your translation.

If this is not possible, I will need at least the following information:

  • What is the topic (incl. excerpt)?
  • What is the file format?
  • How many words and/or characters incl. spaces need to be translated?
  • When do you need the translation?
I translate texts of all common editable Office file formats (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). If the text cannot be edited (e.g. a PDF file), this will take more time and increase the cost, as the text must first be converted. Translating XML files takes more time as well.

However, even if you need to translate special file formats: Just send me the text. I am sure we will come up with a solution.

I use SDL Trados Studio 2017 (and SDL MultiTerm 2017 for terminology work).
In most cases, all you have to do is send me a copy of your document. This means that you do not necessarily have to submit the original to me; instead, you can just send me a scan/PDF file of it. However, please make sure you check with the relevant authority if they will accept this, as I need to specify on the translation whether the document has been submitted to me in its original version, as a certified copy or as a copy. I will then translate the document retaining its layout, certify that the translation is full, true and correct, and attach it to a copy of the original. You can pick up the translation in my office (by appointment only), or I will send it to you by regular mail (usually as Einschreiben Einwurf).
There is no general answer to this question, as the time required (and thus the price) for editing/proofreading depends on numerous aspects, including:

  • Number of errors and the associated time required to edit/proofread the text
  • Number of technical terms and the associated research to be done
  • Urgency/deadline
Yes, always. If possible, please send me the text in an editable format (e.g. MS Word). The “Track Changes” feature will show you precisely what I have changed, deleted or added. For each change, you can decide for yourself whether you want to accept or reject it. With other file formats (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel or PDF documents), I work with the comments feature.
No. I am authorized to produce certified translations only, which means I can certify that a translation is full, true and correct by signing and stamping it.
